Found only in the Dominican Republic, Larimar is a rare semi-precious gemstone. Gemologically, it is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite. Its unique coloration varies from bluish white, light blue, turquoise blue-green, deep blue, dark blue, and purple. The more intense the blue color and the contrast in the stone, the higher and rarer is the quality.
