Labradorite is a calcium-enriched feldspar mineral that can display an iridescent optical effect known as labradorescence, A term coined by Ove Balthasar Bøggild, who defined it as the peculiar reflection of the light from submicroscopic planes oriented in one direction. This particular example, from Labrador, Canada, displays a bright blue sheen that travels from side to side as the pendant moves. Pendant measures 3.5cm by 2.5cm.
